Used on FDA cleared 510(k) products
Team Medical has formulated a very special family of coatings that stand up to the high temperatures where high voltage electrical arcs jump from electrosurgical instruments to tissue and provides a non-stick surface similar to PTFE materials such as Teflon. A range of formulations exists and CeraMed has been used on medical devices that the FDA has cleared for marketing.
Team Medical's CeraMed family of coatings arises from innovatively combining nanoscale materials and chemistry to produce a liquid that bonds tenaciously to metals and other materials when cured. If a mistake is made the uncured material easily washes off with water. The cured coating is hard and durable and resists materials adhering to it – it is a non-stick coating
Special properties
This special coating material:
1.
Goes on metals and other substances at room temperature using dipping, spraying, rolling, or other ordinary means.
2.
Cleans up with water when uncured. We do not know how to remove it from cured coated items except by chiseling it off.
3.
Cures with heat to produce a durable non-stick surface that stands up to high temperatures and electrosurgical conditions.
4.
No hydrocarbon or similar solvents are used and the curing process produces minute amounts of the same materials that evaporate from bread as it bakes: water and ethyl alcohol.
